Ashburton’s Independent Shops will be taking part in the Totally Locally National “Fiver Fest” between the 10th – 24th October.
During this time, participating businesses will be offering a range of special offers and discounted items for £5 to showcase the wonderful variety of local shops and their products. Just look out for the posters in the shop windows! Totally Locally aims to encourage people to think differently about how they shop and show that little changes can mean a lot to small businesses.
Lydia Wood, chair of Ashburton Chamber of Trade, says “Independent businesses and shops are the bedrock of our communities and when they thrive they create real jobs, cohesive towns and strong economies. In these challenging and uncertain times for retailers, we appreciate it more than ever when our community support us, so these offers are to say thank you for that support, and to show just what great value our local businesses are”.
Research has shown that if every adult in the UK spent just £5 a week in their local independent shops instead of online or with multi-national companies an eye water- ing £13.5 billion a year would go back into our towns.
