In the midst of another national lockdown, Ashburton’s shops have had to think differently about how they operate. Not allowed to open their doors, non-essential retailers have taken to Youtube to give customers a virtual shopping experience instead!
Concerned about how the shops would manage with no customers at such a busy time of year, David Kilkelly who runs local media company Blinkback, stepped in to help. He kindly reached out to businesses and offered to make a short 60 second video for each store that allowed them to show off their products, provide some contact details and explain to customers how they are operating deliveries or click and collect.
He said, “We wanted to offer some support for the businesses in Ashburton. In particular the ones that would normally be expecting Christmas shopping footfall but have had to close instead. We hope it will drive some sales for them during the lockdown”
Lydia Wood, chair of Ashburton Chamber of Trade, gave her thanks “It was incredibly generous of David to reach out and give up his time to support local businesses. The uptake has been fantastic and we are very grateful. Filming was fun and professional and it’ll be a great boost for our shops.”
